What Does PT for Children Do?
PT, or physical therapy, for kids helps children meet their milestones and improves their strength, endurance, balance, and coordination. This allows them to be active participants in daily life and sports. As with all our services, we use an evidence-based, routine-based model with a parent/caregiver coaching interaction style. We make therapy a fun activity as we work on the following goals:
General Gross Motor Development:
We help parents and caregivers model how to encourage independence in their kids’ activities, like running, jumping, and climbing stairs. These movements require the use of large muscle groups.
Fine Motor Skill Development:
The development of precise skills that involve movements of smaller muscle groups is equally important. We work on wrists, fingers, and hands, for example.
Muscle Tone:
Children can have an imbalance in their muscle tone, having either low or high muscle tone, both of which can be problematic. Our physical therapists will work with your child to correct the imbalance to support motor development.
Specialized Skills:
Depending on any pre-diagnosed delays or disorders* a child may have, we provide techniques tailored to a customized growth plan to help your child reach major milestones.
