Physical Therapy for Early Intervention

Do you have questions about your infant meeting age-appropriate physical therapy milestones? RISE Pediatric Therapies (RPT) is here to provide the information and intervention you need. Developmental physical therapy (DPT) for babies helps to build a foundation for lifelong mobility and coordination. We offer in-home and community early intervention services for children and families, as well as therapy clinics for developmental disabilities (TDD). We serve Mesa, Surprise, Tucson, and their surrounding areas in Arizona. Contact us at (480) 295-4925 for more information or get started now.

What Does DPT in Early Childhood Do?

DPT helps infants and toddlers meet age-appropriate milestones, enabling them to develop endurance and stability. In turn, this encourages progress in overall physical function throughout childhood. As with all our early intervention services, we use a team-based, routine-based model with a parent/caregiver coaching interaction style. We make learning fun as we focus on the following goals:

General Gross Motor Development:

We help caregivers find ways to encourage kids to be more independent in rolling over, crawling, and walking, for example. These are larger movements with larger muscle groups.

Fine Motor Skill Development:

We encourage the development of precise skills that involve movements of smaller muscle groups, such as the hands, fingers, and wrists.

Muscle Tone:

A child may have a low or high muscle tone. We work with children to increase or decrease muscle tone to support motor development.

Specialized Skills:

Depending on any pre-diagnosed delays or disorders* a child may have, we tailor a customized growth plan to help your child achieve major development milestones.

*Please note: RISE does not diagnose conditions, nor does your child need to have a diagnosis to receive our services.
